About the Georgia Watercolor Society
The Georgia Watercolor Society was formed in March 1975. It was organized to advance the art of watercolor painting while contributing to the cultural atmosphere and standards of the State of Georgia. In addition, it also provides support and assistance for its members and others endeavoring in the field of watercolor painting.
GWS holds two exhibitions per year: the Members' Exhibition, open to GWS members in good standing, and the National Exhibition, open to any artist working in water media. Rules and requirements are published in the Prospectus for each show.
The Georgia Watercolor Society publishes a quarterly newsletter written to inform members of shows and activities, as well as providing tips, techniques, and hints for improving the artists' creative abilities. In addition, GWS hosts a website that provides low-cost gallery space for members, samples or art, examples of exhibition winners, a beginners' page, links to other art websites, and a variety of valuable information for all water media artists. GWS sponsors workshops and demonstrations throughout the state under the guidance of our Regional Directors.
