Kathy Butler, GWS

Kathy Butler takes great pleasure in the beauty of nature, and she shares that enjoyment with the viewer in her transparent watercolor paintings.

Presented in a realistic style, using soft color tones, her work seems to inspire a certain appreciation and enthusiasm in those who view her paintings. She finds subjects in her many travels as well as in local sites. She prefers the watercolor medium because of its fresh quality and its unpredictability and feels it lends itself to portraying nature.

Although she has had no formal art training and is largely self taught, she has studied with many different artists in seminars whe has attended. She has developed her artistic style over a thirty-five year span of time and has received recognitiion for her work in competitions over the years. Kathy , a graduate of Agnes Scott College, a native of Alabama, has made her home in Atlanta, Georgia since 1961.
