Dr. Warren Griffin was born in Macon, Georgia and was reared in Alabama. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina, and received his MD degree from the University of Alabama Medical School. He completed his Otolaryngology specialty training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston and served as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Medical School. He was an Instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Michigan Medical School prior to beginning private Otolaryngology practice in Macon, Georgia where he practiced for thirty years. Upon retirement from medical practice in January 1999 he then intensified his art activities, which previously had been a serious hobby.
His interest in art extends back to his grammar school days and had been pursued as a part time interest for many years. He has studied art with Scott Duce, Tony Couch, Katherine Liu, Glenn Bradshaw, Skip Lawrence, and Marlin Adams. Studying also with Daniel Greene has advanced an interest in portraiture.
Working in oils and watercolor he enjoys painting landscapes, figurative paintings, and portraits. Currently he is painting a series of winter landscapes. Many of his paintings have won awards at local, state, and national exhibitions, and are held in private collections. He is a signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
