Responsibilities of Community Outreach Chair

 

  • Contact senior high art teachers in 6 Atlanta area counties requesting their students participate in High School Seniors Scholarship Show.
  • Send participating teachers guidelines for entries and entry forms for the students to complete.
  • Secure an agreement with Binders Art Supplies and Frames about having the show in their Limelight Gallery on the given dates. Have them agree to participate in the awards by donating gift certificates of a set amount. GWS will also provide funds to purchase gift certificates to Binders for the winners.
  • Keep a list of submitted entry images and artists’ school and contact information.
  • Have the entries judged and notify the teachers and students of the accepted selections.
  • Direct the teachers and/or students to bring their paintings to Binders on given date(s). Students should follow the submission guidelines.
  • Request past presidents help in hanging the show, making final award selections, providing snacks or beverages for the reception, and help to set up and take down show area.
  • Send thanks to all GWS members who helped with the show.
  • Provide reports to the Board and write requested articles for the newsletter.
  • Write article and provide painting images of winners for the website.
  • Attend quarterly board meetings and annual meeting.
  • Serve as a member of the GWS Board.
