Our Mission:

The Georgia Watercolor Society (GWS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) art organization founded to promote the joy of watercolor through education, demonstrations, workshops, outreach programs and juried competitions.

The Georgia Watercolor Society was founded in 1975 and incorporated on April 21, 1977. It was organized to promote and advance the art of watercolor painting as a rich and vibrant medium in the state of Georgia. It also provides support and assistance for its members and others endeavoring in the field of watercolor painting.

GWS holds two juried exhibitions per year: the Member Exhibition, open to GWS members in good standing, and the National Exhibition, open to any artist working in watermedia. The Signature Member Exhibition was held biennially, open to GWS Signature Members only, and is currently on hold. Rules and requirements are published in the Prospectus for each exhibition.

The Georgia Watercolor Society publishes a quarterly newsletter written to inform members of shows and activities, as well as providing tips, techniques, and hints for improving the artists’ creative abilities. In addition, GWS hosts a website that provides exhibition winners, links to other art websites, and a variety of valuable information for all watermedia artists. GWS sponsors workshops and demonstrations throughout the year.
